It could be time to call a plumber to snake the drain if your toilet is clogged or the water in your shower starts to collect around your feet after a few minutes. How much does a plumber cost to snake a drain? Free Estimate.

Does unclogging a bathtub drain cost more money than unstopping a toilet?

The pricing range for having a drain snaked professionally is $100 plus. Although prices vary by the part of the city. This is comparable to what a plumber in San Diego could charge to snake a drain.

While plumbers frequently offer a set rate to snake a drain, you can expect to pay additional labor costs and the cost of any replacement parts if they discover other problems while completing the operation.

Investing in a plumbing snake at the Home Depot if you're the handy type. They normally cost around $40 to$50 for a basic one and can be controlled manually and or by a drill. For less serious clogs that are quite close to the drain, these can work.

You'll need a machine auger instead, which will cost you money. The drain machine that plumbers use start at $500, but these ones are considerably more expensive.

This is due to the possibility that the obstruction may be more difficult or a tougher stoppage to clear deep inside the pipes in your home or that it may not respond to your manual snaking attempts.

You would be much better off hiring a plumber at this stage.

The location and severity of the clog will determine how long it takes to snake a drain. It might only take a few minutes in the best-case scenario. In the worst-case situation, a serious clog that is far from your drain could take several hours to clear.
