If your shower head is leaking, it's probably just a simple problem.  The shower valve cartridge may just need to be replaced. Well most of the time it is a simple problem.

Fortunately, you just have to go to a local home improvement store to buy a  same type of cartridge and replace it.

This is done by removing the cover pate and removing the cartridge and installing a new cartridge.

When removing with a cartridge removal tool you have to be careful. Because if not done carefully it can break of inside the valve.

It is always recommended to call a professional plumber.

If you have a leaking tap, then you should repair it immediately. Although it only wastes your water little by little, if you left it alone for days, it could be gallons of water that you've just wasted.

The way to repair it is to  or at least what I usually recommend is to just replace the faucet.

Because sometimes I have fixed older faucets and then they begin to leak again after awhile. Basically what needs to be done is to make sure the water is turned off.

Then just disconnect the water lines. Then remove the faucet by removing the under the faucet nuts that hold the faucet.

Then remove the faucet and replace. and do the installation just backwards first install the faucet then connect the water stops.

I also like to sometimes replace the angle stops if they are not working. But the water must be Turned Off.

When reconnecting the new faucet. I will usually buy new water supply lines. They have a small rubber on the end this gets compressed and wears out when removed. So I just place new water lines.
